Privacy Policy

Last updated September 17, 2026

Slovo turns speech into text on your device. It has no accounts and no servers of its own, so there is little to tell. Here is all of it.

The short version

What stays on your device

Slovo records audio through the microphone only while you are recording, and only after you allow microphone access. Recordings, files you import, the recognized text, speaker names you enter and your settings are kept in the app's private storage on the device. Speech recognition runs on the device with models that are downloaded once and stored locally.

Files you send to Slovo through the Share sheet are copied into the app's storage on the same device so the app can open them.

iCloud sync

If you keep "Sync through iCloud" on, transcripts are stored in your private iCloud database and audio files in the app's folder in your iCloud Drive. This data is tied to your Apple Account, is encrypted by Apple, and is available only to you and to the devices signed in with that account. We have no access to it. Turn the setting off to keep everything on one device; Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy govern the iCloud side.

Model downloads

The first time you set up Slovo, and whenever you choose another model, the app downloads model files from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). Like any download, that request reveals your IP address to the server that serves the files. Nothing about you, your recordings or your text is sent with it, and we do not receive anything from it.

Free plan and purchases

The free plan counts recognized minutes on your device. To keep that monthly count honest when the device clock is changed, the app may ask an Apple server for the current date. The request carries no information about you.

Slovo Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and the subscription; we never see your payment details, name or address. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchases.

Usage statistics and crash reports

To see which parts of the app are used and where it fails, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics. It counts events such as a recording started, a model downloaded, a transcript finished, the subscription screen shown or a purchase made, together with a few details about them: the length of the audio in minutes, the chosen model and the language. These events never contain your recordings, your text, file names, speaker names or anything you type.

Firebase gives each installation of the app a random identifier and records the device model, iOS version, country, language and app version. The identifier is not tied to your name, Apple Account or e-mail; it is reset when you delete the app. The app does not use the advertising identifier and does not ask for tracking permission. Google processes this data on our behalf under the Google Privacy Policy.

The app contains no crash-reporting library. If you have allowed iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us anonymized crash reports through its own system. That setting is yours to change in the iOS Settings under Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements.

When you write to us

If you send us a problem report or a suggestion from the app, your mail app opens with a prefilled letter. The letter ends with the app version, your device model, the iOS version, your language setting and the chosen speech model, because these help us reproduce problems. You can delete any of these lines before sending. We use your address and message only to reply, and we do not share them.

Deleting your data

Delete a transcript or its audio from the app at any time; the Storage screen in Settings shows what the app keeps and lets you clear it. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. Data synced to iCloud can be removed from the app while sync is on, or from the iOS Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud, Manage Storage.

Children

Slovo is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the app starts doing anything new with data, this page will describe it, and the date at the top will change. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
