FAQ
Short answers about what Slovo does, what stays on your device and what is free. Questions about using the app are collected on the support page.
How do I transcribe audio to text on iPhone without internet?
Slovo recognizes speech right on the device. Internet is needed once, to download the speech model; after that recording and transcription work with no connection: on a plane, on the subway, abroad without roaming. The text comes with punctuation and timecodes.
How do I turn a WhatsApp or Telegram voice message into text?
Open the voice message, tap Share and choose Slovo. The text is ready in a few seconds, and the language is detected automatically. The same works with iMessage, Viber and any app that has a Share button. The audio never leaves your device.
Can I turn a video into text?
Yes. Slovo takes video the same way as audio: a Telegram video message, a recorded lecture, a story with an explanation. Pass the file through Share or from Files and Photos. mp3, m4a, wav, mp4 and other common formats are supported.
Does Slovo send my recordings to a server?
No. Recognition happens on the device itself, and audio and text never leave it. There is no account and no upload, so only you can read the transcript. Everything is stored on the device and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud. The app goes online only to download the speech model, for App Store purchases and for anonymous usage statistics.
How is Slovo different from cloud transcription services?
A cloud service sends your recording to its server, recognizes it there and sends the text back. Slovo does the same job on your iPhone or iPad. That is where the difference comes from: no account, no internet, the recording goes nowhere, and privacy is ensured by the device rather than by a service policy.
Is Slovo free?
Yes, the download and every feature are free with no sign-up and no card: recording, import, timecodes, iCloud. A free amount of recognition is available every month, and what is left is shown in the app. The Slovo Pro subscription removes the limit on minutes and allows recordings and files up to 4 hours. Prices in your currency are shown in the app; cancel anytime in your App Store settings.
Which languages does Slovo understand?
99 languages, detected automatically. If two languages are spoken in one recording, say English and Spanish, both become text. For short recordings and recordings full of terms you can set the language by hand, which usually gives a better result.
Can I transcribe a lecture, a meeting or an interview that lasts hours?
Yes. Recording continues even when the app is in the background, and the text appears while the conversation goes on. Slovo Pro takes recordings and files up to 4 hours. Timecodes help you find the right moment later.
Does Slovo work as a voice recorder with live transcription?
Yes. Tap the record button and speak: the text appears on the screen while you talk, and after you stop Slovo finishes the last part. You can keep the audio next to the text or keep only the text.
How accurate is the recognition?
It depends on the recording quality more than on anything else: keep the microphone close to the speaker. The app offers two models: a fast one for 25 European languages and an accurate one for 99. For difficult audio choose the accurate model and set the language by hand.
Does Slovo work on Mac and iPad?
Yes. iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later, and Macs with Apple silicon, where Slovo runs as an iPad app. Transcripts sync between your devices through your own iCloud, and sync can be turned off.
Do I need to sign up?
No. No account, no email, no phone number. Download it from the App Store and start recording. The Slovo Pro subscription goes through your Apple ID like any App Store purchase.
Is Slovo suitable for confidential recordings: a therapy session, a talk with a lawyer, a doctor's appointment?
Slovo is made for exactly these cases: audio and text never leave the device, nothing is sent to a server, there are no third-party recipients. Consent of the other person to being recorded remains your responsibility, as with any voice recorder.
How do I transcribe a Voice Memos recording?
Open the memo in Voice Memos, tap Share and choose Slovo. The memo is recognized on the device, and the text can be copied or sent as a .txt file.
What do I do with the text afterwards?
Copy it as plain text or share it as a .txt file to a messenger, email, Notes or Files. The recording stays in Slovo's history next to the transcript for as long as you need, and can be deleted at any time.
